Born 1971, Desraj Kali is a short story writer, novelist, historian, documentary film maker, journalist and publisher. He has published 2 collections of short stories, 5 novels and 4 books on the history of Independence movements, many of them through his publishing house, Kagad Prakashan. He edits the magazine Pancham and has directed the documentary Kite Mil Ve Mahi, besides publishing numerous research papers on the Ghadar movement, the literature and culture of Punjab and on Dalit issues.
