Rakesh Khanna is one of the co-founders of Blaft Publications, a small publishing house based in Chennai. He is the editor of The Blaft Anthology of Tamil Pulp Fiction, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and co-editor, with Rashmi Ruth Devadasan, of the comics/street art anthology The Obliterary Journal. His interests include popular fiction, comic books, folklore, and underground/experimental writing, particularly work being done in regional languages of the Global South which has been traditionally either ignored by English publishing, or considered only as the object of academic/sociological study and not as marketable literature in its own right.
Having worked closely with translators from Tamil, Urdu, Hindi, Mizo, Japanese, Hausa, and Guarani, he hopes for more translation and cooperation between Indian language publishers, as well as with other nations of Asia, Africa, and South America.
