Anantha Padmanabhan began his career in publishing in ’92 as a bookseller with Landmark bookstores, based in Chennai. He joined Penguin Books in ’97 as a Sales Representative for South India and is currently Senior Vice President in the Management Team at Penguin Random House. During the course of his career with Penguin, besides managing sales and distribution for Penguin’s portfolio of publishers, he oversaw the development of Penguin India’s first website, its mobile application and its unique distribution MIS, the Advantage Program. He is also responsible for Penguin Random House India’s Digital Strategy, including publishing, distribution and sales of digital properties globally, across channels and partners.
Ananth is a photographer and has completed many personal and professional projects, one of which, on publishing, called Calcutta: Walking in the City, can be views at www.ananthpadmanabhan.com. His first work of fiction, Play with Me, was published this August, by Penguin Books.
He is married to Hemali Sodhi, who is Director, Children’s Division, at Penguin Random House. They live in Gurgaon with their five dogs
