Klaus Willberg is currently advisor to Arbeitsgemeinschaft von Jugendbuchverlagen, the association of children’s book publishers in German speaking regions, and is also a member of the Leipzig Book Fair advisory council. Klaus has been the Managing Director/Publisher of Thienemann Verlag GmbH, a publisher of books for children and young people focusing on classics, original German-language authors, and sales of licenses (book and non-book). As publisher, he established a strategic imprint, Planet Girl that became the first publishing portfolio exclusively for girls in German-speaking countries, and expanded the series Freche Mädchen – Freche Bücher!, which became the most successful series of books for young people in German-speaking countries, with over 10m copies sold.
